A 4kW solar panel system will generate around 10kWh worth of energy to be used by your home each day. This equates to around 3650kWh over the course of a year – although the final number will vary depending on things like your location, time of year, and whether or not shading is an issue for your solar panels.
Whilst you should expect your solar panels to produce something close to these numbers at your home, they will inevitably vary. Get to know what’s normal for your system, and then you can notice issues should something arise.
A 10kWh solar battery is usually sufficient for a 4kW solar system given that 10kWh is about what your solar panels are capable of producing each day. Of course, you can have whatever size solar battery you desire, but generally speaking, a battery storage system that can accommodate a full day of powering your home should a problem occur is usually all you need.
Most households in the UK won’t require planning permission for solar panels at their property, but you will if you’re in a listed building, conservation area or something similar.
