Additionally, when you purchase your solar panel system you should also take note of your warranty length. Most solar panel manufacturers will offer you a standard warranty of 25 years, which will grant you with greater peace of mind if anything were to go wrong.
In order to have a fully operational solar panel system, you do not require a solar battery. Solar batteries work by providing your solar system with storage capacity where you can store excess energy that your solar panels produce.
This stored energy can then be used during periods where your solar panels are not able to produce enough electricity to power your home, for example during overcast days or during the night. Alternatively, you can think of your solar battery as a backup power source if you were to ever suffer a power outage at your home.
Typically, solar batteries have a predicted lifespan of between 5 to 15 years. Meaning that you may need to purchase multiple batteries during the lifespan of your solar panels.
While a solar battery may not be an essential part of any solar panel system, you will require a solar inverter if you wish to utilise the electricity that your solar panels produce. Solar inverters work by taking the direct current (DC) that your solar panel system will produce, and converting it into alternating current (AC). The latter current will then be able to power your household appliances and devices, which are not compatible with DC.
Similar to a solar battery, a solar inverter will not last the entire lifecycle of your solar panels. Instead inverters have a predicted lifespan of between 10 to 12 years, meaning you may need to purchase at least two during the lifespan of your solar panels.
