This year, more people than ever in our local community are struggling to make ends meet as a result of losing their job’s to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
For a lot of families, elderly and the vulnerable, Christmas is going to look and feel very different, with many unable to put food on the table.
As a family run business we want to do right by people in our local community and help – in just a small way – to take some of the pressure off, on what is always a really stressful time of year.
To us, Christmas is about all about giving and there’s no better time to give something back to the people that really need it.
Having fallen on hard times himself, Gary has spoken openly and passionately about giving back to his community.
“I went through a very hard time back in 2011. With the financial crash in 2008 everything went downhill. I had my home, all my properties repossessed, and my car taken off my drive. Fast forward to 2011, I was missing direct debits for insurance, and struggling to eat. I was on Pot Noodles. There was no McDonald’s or eating out for me. Put simply, I was single and on the verge of destitution.”
However, Gary turned it all around with a positive mindset, lots hard work and determination. Today he has built up ESE Solar LTD from strength to strength and even with obstacles like the global pandemic, our company has persevered and has grown with 30% more staff being employed to this day.
“We’ve been working very hard to deliver green energy solutions all over the UK. While we are working towards a greener future and succeeding, we also want to give back to our local community who have been hit hard during this unforeseen pandemic. A lockdown can be a strain on anyone’s mental health without having to worry about feeding your family at Christmas added on top of that.”
Starting from today, we’re accepting donations for non-perishable food items from both our staff and the general public. We’ll be turning your kind donations into 1000 Food Parcels right here in the ESE office to be distributed to those that need them.
We’re allocating these food parcels out to the areas of St.Helens, Warrington, Halton and South Liverpool on a first come, first served basis.
We’ll be opening our offices up past closing time to allow people who work office hours to drop off any food items.
We don’t want anyone to feel embarrassed or ashamed about going through a situation like this, which is why we won’t be asking people to collect the food parcels directly…Our ESE Christmas Elves are going to hand deliver them for you.
#BigGiveBack will see over 1,000 homes receiving a food package directly to their door while following all government safety guidelines.
“Liverpool is a city that pulls together during the hard times. If the support isn’t there from the government to provide for those who need it most, you can be sure this incredible community will pull together to do its best to make sure nobody goes without. It’s been evident over the last few months and it won’t stop now. That’s why we’re doing this, we’re more than a business, we are a family who want to reach out and help our own.”
We’d love it, if you could see what you have spare in your cupboards at home or maybe even add a couple of extra tins to your shopping list over the next few weeks, that you could donate to the cause. Why not get your friends and family to do the same? Together one small act of kindness can go a long way to helping someone that really needs it this Christmas.
We will be accepting donations from local businesses and the general public to our office located in Speke. We’ll be extending our office closing times while the campaign is running, to accommodate anyone who would like to donate but may be working the standard office hours. From Monday 14th December, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and start the packaging of 1000 food parcels ready to be hand delivered from Christmas week (21st December)
